I am an experienced primary school teacher who has worked both in KS1 and more recently EYFS. I have attended all the T4W courses and helped lead T4W in my school including delivering INSET training. I have also been observed by leading T4W educators and professional. This T4W unit is based on Pirates. It includes a Pirate story which I have re-written to fit with T4W, powerpoints and all the resources you will need to teach all three phases (Imitate, Innovate and Invent). I have included photos, within the planning, of my story maps to support. Hopefully this will save you hours of time and will help you get to grips with T4W.
This Narrative T4W unit is based on the story The Man on the Moon. The story has been adapted and simplified to fit within the T4W recommend number of words and also to fit into the 5 parts of a story (Opening, build-up, problem/dimemma, resolution and ending). It includes: planning for all three phrases; photographs of story map templates and any resources I have made. The planning is very detailed as I used this for staff INSET training and to support students. The planning links to Year One SPAG and the Year One KPI’s. This altogether is hours and hours of planning that has been taught and adapted over the last three years. It could easily be adapted to suit Year 2, especially in the current circumstances.
This is a Talk for Writing (T4W) narrative unit based on the story - Love Monster. I chose this text to link with our topic - Monsters. The text has been adapted/re-written by myself to incorporated some of Pie Corbett’s key connectives, phase 4/5 phonic graphemes and to follow the national curriculum 5 parts of a story - opening, build up, problem, resolution/dilemma and ending. I have taught and adapted this unit over 5 years and always love teaching it. This pack includes the adapted text, planning for all the 3 phases and all the powerpoints I made. I have also included any photographs I have of the finished storymap and of the storymap templates I gave to the children. The planning is very indepth as I had a student this year who was new to T4W and I have also been observed by our local T4W training school as part of my CPD and as part of my schools pathway to become a T4W training school. I have planning for other T4W units both narrative and non-narrative which I will upload if people are interested.
This is a Talk for Writing (T4W) narrative unit based on the story – Dear Zoo. This is a great story for T4W as it has lots of repetition and is on Pie Corbett’s reading spine list. The planning is for phase 1 imitate (this is the only phase we do in Nursery). I have linked it to the new EYFS framework 2021 to support teachers linking it to assessments. The planning also includes photograph examples of the story map. You will also get some ideas of activities you can put in your areas of provision and some T4W stickers you could print.
I have been teaching T4W for 8 years and I have been observed by our local T4W training school as part of my CPD and as part of my school’s pathway to become a T4W training school. I have planning for other T4W units both narrative and non-narrative which I will upload if people are interested.
